Shop 'till you drop is a tour you can book in many big cities all over the world, but most of them don't even mention Jakarta. But Jakarta has a lot to offer for those who are just shopping crazy. The malls are big, very big and the prices are much lower than you could probably imagine! Below is a list of the biggest and best malls of Jakarta. You will find much more of them if you want to, each mall has it's own atmosphere.
La Piazza is a lifestyle center that is located in the Sentra Kelapa Gading area and is connected to Mall Kelapa Gading by a brigde. This building, built on two hectares of land is 20.000 square meters in size. The mall was officially opened by Sutiyoso, the governor of Jakarta, on December 31, 2004.
The name of the mall originates from Italian and means 'The Plaza'. Right in the middle of the building indeed is a plaza, a small square which is often used to organize events like concerts. The area is also used to host the Jakarta Fashion And Food Festival or JFFF that is organized every year.
Among the bigger tenants of the building are Celebrity Fitness, La Piazza 21 cinema and the Wall Street Institute. The mall also has an outlet of Surfer Girl, which is a Balinese chain of stores.
