Shop 'till you drop is a tour you can book in many big cities all over the world, but most of them don't even mention Jakarta. But Jakarta has a lot to offer for those who are just shopping crazy. The malls are big, very big and the prices are much lower than you could probably imagine! Below is a list of the biggest and best malls of Jakarta. You will find much more of them if you want to, each mall has it's own atmosphere.
Emporium Pluit Mall is a shopping center in the area of Pluit, in northern Jakarta. It is developed by PT. Pluit Propertindo. The mall is located at the intersection of Jl. Pluit Selatan Raya and Jl. Jembatan Tiga, which was formerly the location of the Sasana Krida sports arena.
The mall was officially opened in early 2009 and is a part of the CBD Pluit superblock development area which covers some ten hectares. There are also condominiums, a housing complex, an office tower and a hotel with 280 rooms. The mall itself has two basement floors, five main floors and three parking floors inside the building. The mall is home to a Carrefour supermarket and Sogo department store.
Other big tenants are Gramedia book shop, Cinema XXI, Electric Solution, Zara, BreadTalk, J.CO Donuts & Coffee, a Maystar restaurant and a Starbucks. The foodcourt at the fourth floor offers more restaurants.
Future plans include the construction of a bridge to connect the mall with the adjacent Pluit Junction, divided by Jl. Pluit Selatan Raya. The location of the bridge will be in the area of a train station along the future track between the international airport of Soekarno-Hatta and Manggarai Station.
