25 October 2007 - This dam, near the Gambar plantation just southwest of the Kelud volcano, was built after the eruption in 1990 and is built to prevent a dangerous lahar - hot mud flow - from reaching villages downstream. It has never been tested and has since filled up with sand and stones from normal erosion.
