12 December 2006This file photo from 11 November 2006 shows a thick layer of debris in the Kaliadem rivervalley that flowed down the slope of the Mount Merapi volcano earlier this year. This picture predates the earliest monsoon rains just a few days, so the layer - wich is several dozen meters thick - is still in tact. See the next picture for the shocking change.
