September 2009 - Concrete pillars of a toll road that has never been finished are placed like stone giants from forgotten times along Kali Malang in the Bekasi regency. Along this canal there are dozens of these pillars in various stages of completion. At some places they are just a few meters high, while just a few hundred meters away they are already topped off with beams to support the road deck. Construction started in 1997. The project halted soon after because of the Asian Financial Crisis.
