The Regency of Tasikmalaya is situated along the transit line between Bandung-Ciamis-Yogyakarta. The distance from Jakarta is about 380 kilometers and from Bandung about 120 kilometers. Geographically, Tasikmalaya is situated between 107° 53' to 108° 20' eastern longitudes and between 7° 3' and 7° 49' southern latitude.
The regency of Tasikmalaya is bordered in the West by the Regency of Garut, in the north by the Regencies of Sumedang and Majalengka, in the east by the Regency of Ciamis and in the south by the Indian Ocean.
A quarter of the Regency of Tasikmalaya, which has an area of about 256,756,692 hectares, is covered by forest. This Regency may be divided into two areas, lowlands and mountainous regions.
The Regency of Tasikmalaya is rich in places of interests and cultural attractions. First of all, there is an interesting area called Kampung Naga (the Campong of the Dragons). The distance from Bandung to this Campong is about eighty-right kilometers. The people of this Campong still adhere to the old traditions. Their house building is unique.
