Geographically, the regency of Serang lies between 105° 7' - 106° 22' eastern longitude and 5° 20' and 5° 21' southern latitude. It is bordered in the north by the Java Sea, in the south by the Regency of Lebak and Pandeglang, in the west by the Sunda Strait and in the east by of Tangerang.
The area of 187,600 hectares consists of plains and mountains; the elevation is between 0 - 700 meters above sea level. The average rainfall is 1,000 - 2,500 millimeters and the temperature is 259° Celsius in the plain and 23° Celsius in the higher areas. The freeway Jakarta - Tangerang twenty-six kilometers long and 2-toll highway in the Regency of Serang. Namely the Ciujung toll Highway (four kilometers) and the Serang toll Highway (8.4 kilometers). The total length of the Jakarta - Merak toll highway together with the ordinary roads is 102 kilometers. The still functioning railway network is between Merak and Jakarta and carries cargo.
The distance between the capital city of the regency of Serang and Jakarta is only ninty-one kilometers and it takes less than two hours of traveling. If we start from Soekarno Hatta Airport the distance is less than twelve kilometers. Old Banten is only ten kilometers from Serang. The roads are passable by all kinds of vehicles. Public transformation comprises buses, mini buses and intercity taxis.
In this area there historical ruins dating from the Islamic royal era of Banten (16th-17th Century). The beautiful sea landscape can be enjoyed from Merak to Anyer. The beach of Pananjung in the strait of Sunda is very attractive for marine recreation.
