Thirty-five kilometers to the east of Pasuruan is Probolinggo. This capital city of regency is known as a producer of grapes and mangoes. A small harbor is also found here. Sugar mills are found in the area. One can reach Mount Bromo from Sukapura, Ngadisari and Cemoro Lawang. The area is a retreat of people who are said to be descendant of subject of Majapahit who fled the advent of Islam.
