The cultural arts in this area are varied and outstanding and almost prevalent in every sub district. Angklung instrument (pentatonic musical instruments made from bamboo) and Dogdog Lojor (long drums) are found in the sub district of Malingping, Panggarangan and Bayah, Angklung Buhun (buhun = ancient) and Tarawangsa (a one stringed musical instruments played with a bow) are usually performed in the sub district of Leuwidamar, Calung Renteng (calung musical instruments played by rhythm, a renteng = chain) is usually performed in the sub district of Banjasari, Astrokol and Samanan (cultural) performance, which are influenced by the Islamic culture, mostly performed in the sub district of Rangaksbitung, Ujungan ( a kind of martial art, where the opponents whip each other with a piece of Rattan ), Gacle, and Debus (a mystical culture art performance) are usually performed in the sub districts of Panggarangan, Bayah, Banjarsari and Rangkasbitung, the last is Ubrug performed in the sub district of Maja.
The most outstanding cultural art performance in the Regency of Lebak is debus. This is a specific cultural art in the Regency of Lebak and has retained some mysticism. In this performance there is usually a leader who is considered to have supernatural powers, and who usually recites incantations before the performance starts. The performers do incredible things such as cutting or stabbing parts of their own bellies or cut their own tongues. But surprisingly enough, they are invulnerable, or if they are vulnerable, they are all healed. Sometimes the performers even carry burning embers on their heads and cool something on them, for example, eggs. Still, they remain unharmed.
Another outstanding annual ceremony in this regency is a traditional ritual performed by the people in this area, which is called Upacara Adat Seren Tahun (Annual Thanksgiving Ceremony). In Cisungsang and Bayah this ceremony is performed in February. In Binuangeun and Malingping, the Sea Festival is performed in April. This ceremony is enchantingly performed as an act of gratitude for the welfare they obtain. The performance is accompanied by music and offerings are thrown into the sea a ritual conducted by all people in a happy and funny atmosphere. Specific souvenirs are not available in this region, but visitors can buy handicrafts from the local people, such as Koja (crocheted bag made of tree-roots, the Baduy weaving in the sub district of Leuwidamar, and plaited wares made from bamboo and rattan, which are available to visitors in the sub district of Bayah.
Besides mentioned above, the outstanding cultural arts in this region, among others, are angklung (pentatonic musical instruments made from bamboo), and Dogdog Loyor (dogdog means drum, loyor means long).
