In Cipanas are hot, sulphurous sources which should help against rheumatics and skin deceases. Several hotels get their water from there. The garden of the elegant presidential palace, Istana Cipanas as it's own hot water source. The palace, that was built in a colonial style in 1750, is little visited by the president. It is maintained however. Who wants to visit it has to have a special permit from the Kelapa Protokol. The palace has a collection of about 300 paintings of Indonesian painters, collected by Soekarno.
