Carita is located along a spaceous bay, so there is little current and only little waves. An ideal place for swimming, also under moonlight. In this bay you can enjoy the spectacular sunsets. It's one of the few places on Jawa where you can actually see the sun drop in the sea. Along the coastal road you will find numerous hotels and logements, as a chain to Anyer. You can also eat here, but mostly foodstalls which serve simple food.
Carita got it's name after the big eruption of the Krakatau in 1883. Shortly after hundreds of dead bodies floated around in the bay, about which soon stories (carita) were told. So this beach was named Pantai Carita ( tales beach ).
From Jakarta you can take the bus to Labuhan on Kalideres busstation. In Labuhan you have to take a minivan to the north. You can also go to Carita from Bogor, but those buses are often (over)loaded with people.
